As soon as your surgery is scheduled, our staff begins communicating with you and your physician’s office. A staff member from the surgery center will call you at least one day before your scheduled surgery to assess your specific needs and concerns, give you instructions and answer your questions.
Please be sure to talk to your doctor about any medication(s) you are currently taking, especially for heart, diabetes or blood pressure problems; be sure to mention any over-the-counter drugs such as Aspirin, Advil, Motrin or herbal supplements. Your doctor will give you instructions about taking any medication prior to surgery.
For your safety, please follow the food and beverage guidelines that are given to you. These are based on your scheduled arrival time to the Surgery Center. Undigested food or liquids in the stomach can cause complications and your surgery is likely to be postponed.
Contact your surgeon or physician prior to your surgery date if:
- You experience any changes in your health between your most recent visit to your physician and the day of your procedure, even minor ones like a temperature, cough or a cold.
- You suspect that you are pregnant. Anesthesia and medication may be harmful to the developing fetus.
If you are not able to keep your scheduled appointment, please call the center as soon as possible.
CAREOS requests that you fill out your medical history online with One Medical Passport. We recommend that you enter your medical history online as soon as your surgery has been scheduled. Once you do this, our Pre-Surgical Assessment nurse will be able to access the information you entered online. This information will assist the nurse in organizing and documenting your complete medical history to prepare for your surgery.
